US High Speed Rail Association Applauds President Obama's High Speed Rail Initiative

Washington, DC - The US High Speed Rail Association (USHSR) applauds President Obama and Vice President Biden for starting the nation's first true high
speed rail project.  With the expected announcement Thursday morning by the President and Vice President in Tampa, Florida of the first round of high
speed rail grants, this starts a new era in advanced transportation for America.

The US High Speed Rail Association has been a big supporter of President Obama's plans for high speed rail in America.  The association was launched in
June 2009 with the sole purpose of helping to build widespread public, political, and business support for a major national high speed rail network for
America.  "We congratulate the president and vice president on this great effort" said Thomas Hart, Vice President for Government Affairs, US High Speed
Rail Association.  "We also want to congratulate Congresswoman Corrine Brown, Congressman John Mica, and Congressman James Oberstar for their
leadership in helping to advance this great project" said Mr. Hart.

Andy Kunz, President and Founder of the US High Speed Rail Association added "This really is an exciting time for high speed rail in America, and in
addition to the President and Vice President, we want to congratulate Florida Governor Charlie Crist, the Florida state legislature, Ed Turanchik and Mike
Bedke from Connect Us for their considerable efforts to advance high speed rail in the state of Florida.  As a native of Florida, I am particularly excited about
this announcement, and look forward to seeing Florida finally get advanced transportation, which will bring thousands of new jobs to the state", said Andy
Kunz.

In November, USHSR announced a major international high speed rail conference to take
place in Orlando this coming March 4-5, to immediately follow the anticipated release of
grants from the $8 billion federal stimulus money.  USHSR continues to support high
speed rail across America and especially the Florida initiative and continues to bring
international attention and public and private financing to this exciting transformative
    project.

Top executives from the US High Speed Rail Association will be in Tampa Thursday
attending the announcement and meeting with the administration and Florida leaders.
USHSR executives will be available for press interviews before and after the
announcement.  To schedule interviews, please contact Joseph Shelhorse at (202) 248-
    5001 at USHSR.
